*Please note we receive the fresh pita on Wednesday afternoon so if you buy/receive pitta on Saturday, please use by end of day or please freeze in airtight bag or container. They are just as lovely microwaved or toasted - see below*.
Unpackaged pita breads are relatively unheard of… so we are extremely pleased to have Yuval from Proper Pita Partnership handmaking them for our shop using traditional Middle Eastern methods, ! These lovely pitas are made in Birmingham with the finest organic ingredients - they are as authentic as you can get! 😛
Yuval comes every Wednesday to drop off our freshly baked, artisan pitas! Be quick if you want one though, at 55p each, they do sell out quick! When demand increases we will increase our orders for the following week, so try again if they're out of stock when you come to make your order!
Directions (from Yuval)
Our pitas are meant to be heated before eating.
The pitas should be kept frozen (for up to a month). This should happen as soon as possible, but definitely within three days of baking (you can ask when they were baked). There are no preservatives and only four (organic) ingredients - Flour, Yeast, Salt, and olive oil (and water - so technically 5 ) so they will go off if not frozen after a while.
They heat up very well when either toasted or microwaved - It very much depends on your personal preference. The microwave option provides a softer pita - you should probably try it at least once for yourself, because it really isn't like anything else.
To microwave - 1: clear any ice build-up on the pita 2: wrap in a paper towel 3: microwave on high for 45 seconds 4: enjoy
To toast: Defrost for 30 seconds in the microwave, then toast (the pita should start puffing up in your toaster as the air inside gets hot.
