Turmeric is the ground root from a plant of the lily family, native to SE Asia. It has a mild, aromatic flavour & is used as a basic ingredient in most curry powders. It can be cooked in many grain, bean or vegetable dishes or in chutneys & pickles. Add, sparingly at beginning of cooking. Country of origin: India.
Normal amount in a pot would be approx. 40g.
